Kindle Direct Publishing extends 70 percent royalty on ebooks from $9.99 price point to $12.99

Ever since Amazon’s KDP launched, the 70 percent royalty rate band has remained the same: $2.99 to $9.99. So it’s major news when a change comes through. As of July 7, the 70 percent royalty rate can be earned for ebooks priced from $2.99 to $12.99. The prior royalty rate for books priced over $9.99 was 35 percent. Learn more.

I’ve already read message threads of authors rushing to change their pricing, particularly for box sets, while some have been grousing that Amazon didn’t push out the 70 percent royalty band to $14.99 or $19.99.

Other major ebook retailers, such as Kobo, Apple, and Barnes & Noble, already pay 70 percent at higher price points.
